This week your child will be tested in Reading and Math. This will give us a snapshot of where they are in their progress of those subjects. Tests are given three times a year and the results will be shared at Parent Teacher Conferences in October. Conference sign up will once again be on Skyward and you'll receive notice of when you can sign up.
I was really impressed with our first week of class. Routines were learned and some habits are being established. Beginning this week I'd like your child to spend a minimum of 20 minutes a night reading. As they read they should be : Asking themselves questions about the plot of the story. Next, they should be making predictions before going on to the next page. Finally, try to make a connection in the story to something that has happened to themselves, or a connection with another book they have read. HOMEWORK: Read to self at least 20 minutes each night. A yellow Math homework/remembering sheet will be coming home several times this week. Your child will start it in school and may even finish it before the end of the day. I'd like you to look it over and see if there are any errors. If so, have your child correct it and return it to school in the folder they are bringing home daily. Your child will turn it in the following day to me and I'll look it over. Study Spelling words each evening. SPELLING WORDS: BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER, COMPUTER, READING, SPELLING, MATH, RECESS, ART, MUSIC
