It's amazing to see that this is our first week of the second trimester. The students have made some nice gains and we are on track at this point of the year in all areas.
The next portion of our year is to me the most important part of the year. The middle part of any project, race, event is where we either keep up or fall behind. We need as a team to proceed forward with the same amount of energy that we started the school year with. Please continue to take an active role in your child's education. REMINDER: Label your child's winter clothing.

On this week of Thanksgiving break I'm reflecting on how thankful I am for 23 wonderful students who come to school each day and give me their personal best. I'm also thankful for their parents for the support you give me in making sure they are accountable and are on the PATH.
I hope you all take time to reflect on the gift you've all been given with a wonderful child and the bright future they have because of you. Keep them accountable with their homework and the extra reading they are suppose to be doing each evening. 20 minutes a night is the minimum amount of time. Our move to the new room and the transition from walking to and from the main building has gone very well. A reminder that we would like your child at school by 7:25 a.m. Our first trimester is ending and report cards will be sent home soon. No school on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. We did it! We made it through 50 days in what I felt like was a single stall garage and have moved into a more attractive room. The students and I went out on Friday afternoon and the looks on their faces was priceless. They thanked me over and over for the new room as if I had been spending evenings building it. It did take nearly 3 months and it was fun to watch the progress of it . During my lunch time I'd visit with the construction workers and from our conversations Math problems arose. The St. Cloud Times did a story on it and it has appeared in the Nov. 17 Sunday edition Page 1. Here is something else the SC Times did a few days ago. www.sctimes.com/videos/news/2019/11/13/pleasantview-teacher-moved-classrooms-11-months/4183139002/ Some very important details about our move. 1- Please have your child to school by 7:25 a.m. daily. If they arrive late it's going to take you and your child a long time to get class and you to work. They will miss the start of the lesson in Math and it usually contains some great jokes, stories and other valuable life long learning items I want to pass along to this generation. 2-Bring with sweatshirt or some sort of pullover top. The room is nice and toasty but there will be a brief time when your child has to go outside and walk about 20 yards into the main building for their Specialist Time (PE, Music, STEAM, and Art.) The walk takes about 15 seconds. (You knew I had to get some Math in this blog didn't you!) 3- We don't need water bottles. There is a state of the art drinking fountain in the hallway. 4- I can be reached at 258-1231 if you need to visit. Please try to call after class time. You are welcome anytime to visit after school and see the new place. 5- Continue to send notes for after school plans . Please book mark this link to keep up with Reading for your child.
www.mrsmartinnews.blogspot.com Some very exciting news? Last week Sauk Rapids-Rice School District residents voted in favor for building a brand new elementary school on the current site. We had several parents who helped in getting the word out that the current building needs to be replaced, and I'm thankful for those that helped out in this way. The building will be finished and ready for classes in September of 2022.
Last week I spent many evenings setting up our new temporary classroom. Still no official word on when we'll be in the new setting but we're getting close. Stay tuned for more updates. We are continuing with our current Math unit of multiplication/division. Two step problems are the focus this week. A new set of flashcards (the 4's ) will be coming your way. Please make sure your child spends some time mastering these. Thank you. |
