Parent teacher conference slips are going home this week. The time and date is one that you signed up for last September. If the time and date do not work we can always meet right after school. Please return the slip as soon as possible so I can plan for your visit. Conferences will be held on Feb.13, 16, 17.
Third Grade iPad Take Home Information As part of our 1:1 technology access, we would like to offer your third grader the opportunity to bring their iPad home for the remainder of the year. There are some requirements that need to be taken care of before the device can be taken home. 1. Pay the $15 technology fee and sign the 1:1 agreement online before conference night. Here is the link for paying online: saukrapids.revtrak.net/tek9.asp?pg=PV_Products (click on Technology Use Fee and then Third Grade) 2. Please report to the computer lab in room P12, 20-30 minutes BEFORE your scheduled conference. You will need to check in, watch a short video, and get required paperwork to bring to your conference.

No school Monday January 16
MAPS testing for Math is on Tuesday. Be sure to get to bed early on Monday night. Continue to create story problems for your child that involved division and multiplication. We're off a great week and the students came back today ready to learn. My job is so much more fun when everyone is on the PATH. Continue to remind them what your expectations are for them each day. On Tuesday we will take round 2 of the Reading MAPS test. Results will be known right away and the results will be discussed at Parent Teacher Conferences in Feb. We're back! I'm sure you were ready to send your child back to school after the nice winter break. I returned from Maui well rested and ready to push hard to the 2nd half of the year. Homework has resumed and it's also very important for your child to be working on their flashcards. Our current unit in Math involves multiplication. Look for opportunities to show those types of problems at home. Example: If I put 3 carrots on each of the 4 plates on the table, how many carrots will be used? You can also use examples of division. I have 12 carrots and I want to divide these evenly to the 4 people seated at the table. How many carrots will each person get? When students make a connection from school work to a real life situation they will retain the information longer. I really missed my students over break and was ready to get back from the 81 degree weather of Hawaii. This is a special bunch of students and I am so thankful for the parents that role model what it looks like to give your personal best. |
