There will not be a spelling or skill list this week. Instead we will be reviewing all of the past lessons that have been taught this year.
During the break it is my hope that some time during the day can be spent on reading and also exploring some of the websites that are on the resource page of my blog. It is also my hope that you and your child will get to spend some quality time together enjoying the holiday. Have them rest up and be ready to go when we resume classes in January. When they come back we will have less than 100 days remaining. I'm really proud of this team and know that the progress they have made so far is in a large part of the time you spend with them. Continue to make sure they are reading each night and if you can do more than 20 minutes then bump it up to 30. Working on their flashcards is also very important. Here is a new website to try out. http://www.gcflearnfree.org During the first week back from vacation your child will take their second MAPS test in Reading and Math. Remember the goals we set for ourselves and the plan you wrote during our Parent Teacher Conferences. Enjoy the time together. See you in 2015! Enjoy your holidays!

Our Music concert will be on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Please have your child to PV between 6:30 p.m.- 6:40 p.m. They should report to the classroom.
On Thursday, Dec.18th your child if they choose, may bring some money to be spent at the school Toys for Tots Store. Most items cost anywhere from 50 cents to a few dollars. The money earned from the store will go to the Toys for Tots organization. In Math class we are into the multiplication/division unit. Please encourage your child to spend time with their flashcards. Here is a website that we used today to talk about division. www.MathWith Larry.com Home page and this one is geared for multiplication. http://www.mathwithlarry.com/lessons/lesson010.htm Spelling list 12, Skills #12 this week. Your child was told today which days they will work at the school Toys for Tots Christmas Store. This is a tradition that the third grade students have done for nearly 20 years. The money raised will be sent to the MN Toys For Tots organization. While they are working they will have a chance to shop if they like. Please send money with your child on Thursday, December 18. This is optional.
Report cards went home today. If you have questions please give me a call. We talked together today how we can not change the past but focus on the future. If they were happy with their results they should continue to do what they are doing. If they were not happy then they need to make a change in how they are preparing themselves daily. We’re closing in on the end of Unit 6 in Math. The test is slated for the end of this week. The spelling list should be written in your child’s agenda. It would be a good idea during the week to have them write the words several times. The test will be on Fridays. Thank you again for your help with having your child read each evening. We’re off to a good start but must caution everyone that this next portion of the year is to me the most important. A lot of new material will be covered during this part of the school year. Spelling list #11 and skills #11 this week. |
