We enter the last week of January with the students finishing up another big Math unit. Our focus was on adding and subtraction with regrouping and the students have done very well. Remember to keep those multiplication flashcards handy as we still must master those facts. I
I taught the students a Math game that can be played with a deck of playing cards. It's called "Salute". Ask them to teach you the rules and play it. We are a couple of weeks away from Parent Teacher Conferences. Thank you for signing up. Looking forward to sharing some results from the past testing with you. Please remind your child of your expectations again. Little reminders help everyone get along with each other.

It was one year ago this week when my old classroom along with 3 others were in a fire. Lots of memories of that week still linger in my mind. I'm so thankful for being in my current temporary room for the next couple of years while a brand new school will be built. I've been chosen to be a part of the design team and am very excited to contribute what I feel would be a suitable school for children to learn .
We will be testing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. I know the students get plenty of rest but perhaps the night before each of these they go to bed a little earlier. The results will be share at the PT Conferences in February. Be sure to sign up if you haven't yet. Lots of good time slots are still open so hurry and get the prime time. It feels great to be back in the classroom and seeing the kids again. It sounds like everyone got a lot of rest over the break and we're all ready to push forward with more learning. I just noticed that we are only 10 days away from the half way point of the year. This is a special class and I would love for the days to slow down. The person that subbed for me said the students were very respectful and good.
Next week we'll test again in Math and Reading like we did in September. The scores will be discussed at the next Parent Teacher Conferences. PT Conferences will be held on February 10, 12 and 14th. You can schedule conferences online through Skyward Family Access starting on Monday, January 6. I would sign up today so you can get the time you want. No School January 20 Reminder there will be no school Monday, January 20th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Dates to Remember: Jan. 8 - Unity Day - Wear Orange |
