It was so nice to see half of the student's parents last week at Parent Teacher Conferences and I look forward to speaking to the other half this week. In Math we are already in the second of 7 units that we'll cover this year. Your child was given another set of flashcards. So far they have been given their 2's,3's,4's and 5's. By taking a few minutes each evening to memorize their facts your child will benefit a lot. No school on Friday due to Teacher Inservice Day.

Wow! I know I say that a lot but can you believe we are the last week of October. That means two of the nine months are already behind us. There will be a book fair at school on Thursday. Students can bring cash, check, or families might add funds to an eWallet). If students bring a check, it should be made out to "Pleasantview Elementary. A zoom code and password will be emailed to you for your Parent Teacher conference that you signed up for. Please arrive on time and wait patiently in the waiting room while I finish the conference before you. We will end on time so the next family does not have to wait. Your child will also be bringing home a progress report page. Please have it handy at the time of your conference. No Spelling list this week. We will not be in session on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.
During those days please have your child read for a total of 60 minutes per day. This can be broken up into smaller pieces of time. They should also practice their flashcard sets. Enjoy the time with your child. Hopefully you can take some walks and enjoy the autumn colors with them. While walking you can make up Math story problems. EXAMPLES: We're leaving home at 4:00 pm. If we walk for 20 minutes what time will it be when we return? I see 4 trees in each yard on our street. If there are 5 houses on our block how many trees in all? SPELLING WORDS: REALLY , EITHER, CHEESE, MONKEY, ONLY, PIECE, COMPLETE, MEDIUM
Thank you for those that have scheduled a Parent Teacher Conference. I'm looking forward to sharing the progress of your child at that time. Directions are signing up can be found on the district website or in your skyward account. Oct.28 and Nov. 3 are the dates. We are continuing with our multiplication / division unit in Math. Your child should have brought home the flashcards of 2,3,5 by now. Keep them and practicing them daily until they have mastered them. We are approaching the half way mark of the first trimester already! We are right on course of where I expected to be at this point. Please make sure your child is taking the time to read each evening. I have seen so much improvement from those that are faithfully doing this task. This Wednesday is the first of several "Early Release Days." Please know that students will be dismissed at 12:15 pm on Wednesday October 6. If your child has a change in their plans on how they get home PLEASE send a note with your child letting me know.
