This is my last post for the 2020 . I really can't believe we are at the Christmas break already. This week during Math and Reading we'll do some fun activities related to Christmas. There will not be a lot of SEE SAW or homework sheets this week. The students will still be working but not in the typical way. Beginning Wednesday- Sunday of this week I want you to put the iPad on the shelf and be sure it's not on. This is a time to focus on being with family and the screen time should be zero.
Next week I would suggest your child spend time reading books, staying sharp with your flashcards and getting outside and getting fresh air. Leave the iPad off and rest the eyes. As of now I do not know the schedule for 2021 but long for the day when "My Champions" return to our classroom! It's going to be a beautiful sight to see them walk through the doors again. Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year. I truly believe that 2021 will be a great year and we will someday look back at this past year and be stronger for our courage and perseverances for getting through it. In case you didn't hear about the rounding lesson and the amazing dog I use to have here it is. www.loom.com/share/c698da7f7961478c93837284f993d5e5

This is our last full week before vacation. Next week is only 2 days so I'd really like to cover a lot of material before we take time off. We've been doing well here and I'm proud of the students. I also appreciate the kind words so many of you shared with me on : how you like the schedule, the organization of the 3 ring binder and on the amount of work that is expected each day. It's very rewarding for teachers to get that kind of feed back.
There is one small change that I'd like to do with our schedule. Right now I'm having our whole group meet for Reading from 9:45-10:45 a.m. daily. I'm still going to have everyone report at that time but will divide the students into two groups to make the lesson more meaningful for them. The group that I keep in the ZOOM room will be given a lesson at their Reading level. The group that I'm not meeting with will be working on another assignment. After a designated amount of minutes we'll switch and I'll do a lesson with the other group at their Reading level. We're sort of doing that now but starting next week I believe it will be even better. We have a poster in our room. GOOD.. BETTER.. BEST. In all that you do try to make your good become better and make your better become your best. Thank you for picking up your child's materials last week. My suggestion to the students was to keep it all together, perhaps in the bag so they will know where to find their items daily.
We just finished the Unit 2 of 7 Math units. We also just finished the first trimester! Can you believe that your child is 1/3 done with third grade already? This next portion of the year is extremely important. Keep giving your child that encouragement of doing their best and giving an honest effort each day. I'm attaching a photo of how one parent has set up their child's work area as Math class begins each day. Having your materials ready to go causes less stress for them and saves everyone time. A reminder that the ZOOM room will be open 5 minutes before the start of class. Students are also writing in their AGENDA daily with their "To Do List. " |
