Can you believe we are talking about the last week of school? It's been an interesting year. There were lots of success stories and I'm proud of how hard the students worked.
Report cards will be mailed home next week. You should have also received some information about being able to see the MCA results by now. If you noticed your child coming home with several books this week that's because I'm downsizing my classroom library. My new room will not be able to shelf as many books and I wanted the kids to have a favorite book. When you are done with them you can sell them and buy more books or put them in those mini libraries on corners of neighborhoods. Thank you again for the support this year and working with me in helping your child reach their full potential. Enjoy the extra time with them this summer and be sure they pick up a book once in awhile and read. It also would be good to keep their Math skills sharp as well.

A couple of reminders for this week. The first one is that your child will need a sack lunch from home if you didn't sign up for one from school for the field trip on Thursday.
Also, we will LEAVE the school at 7:40 A.M. on Thursday, May 23rd and won't return until 3:15-3:30 P.M. Many students arrive at school late, and if you bring them late on that day they will have missed their only field trip of the year. Please allow time for traffic and be on time. I would suggest they are here by 7:20 A.M. that day if you drive them. Your child will need to return all books to the media center this week. Please look around the house for those books that may have been checked out several weeks ago and are over due.
It feels like Spring Fever just hit this morning. Please remind your child there are several weeks left of school and not be "done" with learning just yet. In ten days (May 23rd) our class will go to the Science Museum. Remember a sack lunch is needed and your child will return to school after 3:00 pm that day. You must be here to pick them up if they do not attend Kid Stop. The last round of major testing ends this week. Your child will take a Reading test on Tuesday and a Math test on Wednesday. This is similar to the one they took in September and in January to see if they were above, at, or below grade level in those subjects.
Field Day is Friday, May 10 at 7:50-9:25 a.m. on the school grounds. Come out and cheer for your child. |
