GRAMMAR: LESSON 24 The skill for this week is knowing what an adverb is. Adverbs modify verbs by telling us when, where, how, in what manner, or to what extent an action is performed. Adverbs usually end with -ly, and they answer the question, "How is something done. An example of an adverb modifying a sentence is; He ran quickly. Quickly is the adverb in the sentence because it tells how the subject ran.
SPELLING LIST LESSON 24 unfold, rejoin, untie, reheat, unfair, unclear, repaid, rewrite, unhurt, recheck, unlucky, unwrap, reuse, unsure. Starting on Tuesday night the homework sheet for Math will look a little different. The problems are right off of the MCA Math test which your child will do on April 29th and 30th. Please review the problems with your child at home before they return it to school the following day. As Spring approaches sometimes the behaviors change in the students with poor attitudes or poor choices. This is discouraging since it not only impacts your child but the rest of the class as well. Each time a teacher stops a lesson to correct a student for their behavior, the learning stops for the entire class. Please review with your child what your expectations are for them when they come to school each day.

We have been working on fractions in Math class and the unit doesn't get any easier. Today we were adding unlike denominators which is a challenge. Please help your child this week with this concept as we are reviewing it daily in class. There are still some students who have not mastered their multiplication facts. Work with your child to help him or her understand how some sentences can ownership. Our current unit in Math involves fractions. There is so much information in this unit and I've shared with the students that they must really stay focused and do the homework in order to understand how they work. A great connection on a person that knows his fractions very well is my brother the pipe fitter. He travels all around the country working in factories measuring areas for pipes . His measurements involve a lot of working with fractions of inches which must be correct in order for the pipes to fit. I shared that with my students today and also told them that his hourly wage at his current job is $56.40 an hour. He also gets $50 a day to be used for his housing. I've shared many times with the class how being strong in Math can lead to some pretty outstanding careers. It would be a good idea to have your child review each night this month their homework with you. Thank you again for your help. MCA tests are just around the corner. Very soon you'll see some extra homework for your child in that area. GRAMMAR SKILLS: LESSON 20 The skill for this week is contractions.
