It truly feels like just yesterday I was standing at the door and saying, "Welcome to third grade." Since then we have had nine days of school. I really feel the transition is going smoothly and the majority of the students are realizing that third grade is a totally different experience than being in the lower elementary scene.
Last week we opened up the I pads and I was impressed with the knowledge the students already had when using them. We have lots of learning yet to be done on how to use them, but it was a good start. Math homework sheets have been going great. Only a few students are having an issue of remembering to bring them back the following day. We are finding a few minutes during our day where we can start them and so if you see that the sheet is completed on both sides when they reach home, I'd like you to check it over . If they have an incorrect answer have them do that one over again. Nice job parents on the communication with notes and phone calls. Another good report is that the excessive talking has improved. Thank you for letting your child know what you expect when they arrive at PV each day. We are having a pretty good start to the year. The biggest issue we have is excessive talking when it's suppose to be work time. I've reminded the students that when this happens they are not getting their work done and the person that is listening isn't learning as well. Maybe a reminder by you of what your expectations are when they enter the school would be helpful. This week your child should be bringing home a Math Homework/Remembering sheet. It's on bright yellow paper and will be in their yellow folder. Please remind them to complete it and return it the following day . Most of the time we hope to complete one side in school. Their other homework assignment will be to read a minimum of 20 minutes each night. Thank you so much for the great communication on after school plans for your child. You can imagine me having to keep track of 31 different plans each night and it's so nice to have the calendars or notes if plans change. Unless I hear from you they will go where they typically go. |
