Where did the last 170 days go? I'll be very honest with you that I really dread Thursday of this week because of the strong bond formed between your child and myself. As a veteran of teaching now for 32 years, this group stands out in many ways.
Many of the teachers I work with tell me that I say that each year. Maybe it's because I state what's expected early in the year and the students decide that it's the best choice and we have a good year. This group is one I'll always remember. In the past two weeks we have started a project that actually started with a Math problem of a Maine Marathon runner with Parkinson's disease. It has grown from there and the Sauk Rapids Herald newspaper is coming out next week to do a story on our class. I'm guessing other papers from across the United States may pick up the story too which would be a great tribute to our class. If you would not want your child's photo to appear in the newspaper let me know. At the beginning of the year you signed a form that either gave consent or said you did not want your child's image used in the media. I'll check those over again but wanted to give you a heads up on what is happening. iPads were turned in last week and you will received a copy of the check in process. Students going to summer school will use them but not take them home this summer. Remember if you signed up for summer school we begin on June 12 by 7:30 a.m. Thank you for being a great partner in your child's education. I have called them Champions in my blog all year and they are very much a Champion in so many ways. Finally, thank you to the students for giving me your best each day. It was a banner year and one I'll cherish forever. Respectfully yours, Mr. Olson.....the teacher of Champions!
