REMINDER: 2 HOUR LATE START ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1.
BRING WARM WINTER ITEMS FOR RECESS . We've spent nearly 2 weeks in our new room, Y2 located in the Yellow Pod next door to several kindergarten rooms. We love our new neighbors and also the bathroom and extra space we have. Of course we miss the old room, with the comfortable atmosphere along with the views out of the window of the early morning sunrises. Many mornings the students and I would gather as the day was beginning and marvel at the sky as if it was a tapestry being painted by a giant brush. The third grade staff and students have received a lot of donations of school supplies, boots, hats, gloves and snow pants that were lost in the fire. I believe we have what we need to finish the school year strong. Slowly I'm adding items back to my room. Just today our student desks arrived. The next day our i pads returned with brand new cases. I'm still without my desk along with my files and personal items but am reflecting on how happy that I still have my 28 students. On the morning just after the fire I walked up to my room and stood in a dark, cold silent room. The smell of smoke was strong and trying to decide what I should take back to my room was a daunting task. I gathered a few items and one personal item.It was a letter that a student wrote to me 2 years ago. I have it in a frame and it's one of my greatest treasures. I don't know what I'll get back or when that will happen. My room will look very different for a while, but the lessons I teach will still be full of passion and energy. That is something that wasn't lost in the fire.
